Amakashino-oka Hill - Inukai Manyo Memorial Hall - Complex of Manyo Culture - (Lunch) - Asuka river

【A journey through the Manyoshu, the world's oldest anthology of poetry, still beloved today】
The Manyoshu is the oldest existing collection of Japanese poetry, compiled between the 7th and 8th centuries. It consists of waka, a form of Japanese poetry made up of 31 syllables. The Manyoshu contains around 4,500 poems, expressing the thoughts and emotions of a wide range of people from various social classes, including not only royalty and nobles, but also farmers, craftsmen, soldiers, and courtesans.
As Asuka was once the capital of Japan, many of these poems were composed here. Why not take a journey through the stone monuments inscribed with these poems, and immerse yourself in the love, emotions toward close ones, and sense of the changing seasons that people of that era experienced?
